When it ratified the necessary minority of the Council of Europe. Currently, seven of them recognized the treaty: Austria, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. It is assumed that the convention will soon sign other States: France, for example, is expected to ratify it. Experts believe that other countries did not sign the document because they do not see any benefit from it for the development of civil society. The recent promotion of such understanding should lead to the fact that more States will sign the convention.

The purpose of the convention - to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations in Europe by establishing rules on the conditions of these organizations entities. It is clear that such a treaty is needed because of the increasing number of non-governmental organizations working transnationally in several countries.
